Norma Owen Memorial Golf Tournament

A picture of Norma OwenThis tournament is in memory of Constable Norma OWEN, who was a member of the Guelph Police Service and succumbed to cancer in 1983. We have had this golf tournament since 1983, and the proceeds from these events have been donated to various cancer-related charities in our community.

We have been able to donate approximately $505,765 to date!

For the past number of years we have been proud to be giving back to Hospice Wellington, in an effort to assist them in continuing to provide a tranquil place for the terminally ill. The comfort of being surrounded by family and friends in a peaceful, caring environment makes such a huge difference. Hospice Wellington has been caring for the people of Guelph and Wellington County since 1980. Kindness and compassion are the cornerstones of what Hospice Wellington gives to our community every day.

Our tournament has been a fixture in the community and will continue to thrive with the ongoing participation and support of our members. The members of the Guelph Police Association are proud to support this organization which has a direct and positive impact on our community.

Lids for Kids

Members of the Guelph Police Association took the initiative to initiate a program to assist children in obtaining bicycle helmets. An event was held at the Shelldale Centre to assist children who were in need of a helmet. Approximately 300 children received a new helmet and instructions on how to properly wear them. The event also included a barbecue, face painting, and a bike safety rodeo. This event was another example of the men and women of the Guelph Police Association donating their time and effort to improve the quality of life and safety of the children within our community.

Tim Horton's Camp Day

Tim Horton’s Camp Day has traditionally been a great opportunity for members of the Guelph Police Association to donate part of their day to give back and support the youth within our community. The volunteers assist in raising donation to support the various Tim Horton’s Camps. This year over $11 Million was raised for the Tim Horton Children’s foundation. As a result of these efforts our members have allowed a number of children from our community to attend to these camps and enjoy an incredible life experience.

Shelldale Teen Turkey Dinner

Each year a select number of Guelph Police Association members donate their time to assist with the Shelldale Teen Turkey Christmas Dinner. This dinner is also financially supported by the Guelph Police Association who make a significant financial contribution. This dinner is provided to approximately 70 children who not only receive an excellent meal but also a gift. This year members of the Association also donated a Nintendo WII game to the centre. This is a great community event run by a number of great individuals at the Shelldale Centre and is proudly supported by the members of the Guelph Police Association.
